My name is Teresa Salyer and this is my fourth year at Hennessy Catholic School. I have a master’s degree in elementary and early childhood education from the University of Iowa and over twenty years of experience teaching preschool, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. I am very excited about the new school year and I feel very blessed to be at Hennessy.
My family and I live in Dubuque. I have 23 year-old twins, Caitlin and Zachary, a lively two year-old male pug puppy named Cleo, and my husband, David, who teaches at Loras College.
Zachary and his wife Nikki had their first baby this year (and our first grandchild)!. Her name is Hayven.
It was so nice seeing many of the Hennessy families during back-to-school night. One of my goals this year is to establish strong collaborative relationships with each of the families. Such relationships are key to children’s success!
During these first days of school we have been writing, enjoying books about Pig the Pug and Pete the Cat, doing getting-to-know-you activities, religion, math, PE, music, and Mass.
It’s going to be a great year! School is cool!
This is Cleo the Pug! He is a sweet boy!
Our daughter, Caitlin. She spent two weeks in Quito, Ecuador working in a daycare.
Zach enjoys the outdoors. He loves to fish and hunt.
